Traveling Without Actually Going Anywhere: Universal Yums from Spain
The box for October 2022 came with treats from Spain. (I know I’m late in writing and posting this!) I had already gotten a box of Spanish snacks when I had the subscription box in 2021, so I was a little disappointed that I would be getting another box from this country.
My first snacks were white chocolate and caramel candies. They were very similar to M&M’s and had a good combination of flavors. Next were honey butter flavored corn puffs, which I liked due to their light airy and buttery flavor. My husband thought they had a funky texture and said the flavor was just fine. We then tasted pistachio flavored toffees. They were hard to chew and similar to the pistachio candy we tried from India. I don’t understand why others like pistachios! I do not like them at all!
Next on the agenda was gluten free fried egg and sea salt flavored chips. They were like regular potato chips but they actually tasted like fried eggs! How weird! The flavor wasn’t overpowering like those shrimp chips we had last month from South Korea. My husband loved these chips!
We then ate a milk chocolate peanut cream wafer, which I found to be similar to a KitKat but with more peanut butter! I really liked it! Sour kiwi flavored gummies were next in our box. I liked them because they tasted like Sour Patch Kids, but my husband didn’t like them at all. He just doesn’t like the texture of gummy candies. Lastly, we ate a chocolate pine nut candy, which was extremely hard to chew. I do not like eating candy like Milk Duds, Tootsie Rolls, etc. that get stuck in my teeth! Do you?
Trivia learned from this month’s booklet includes the facts that Spain is home to the 3rd largest football (soccer) stadium in the world and the Spanish national anthem is one of four in the world that has no lyrics! Also, putting a hat on a bed is considered bad luck! Hats off to this month’s box for delicious snacks! November’s box has snacks from Italy, so stay tuned to learn what that country has to offer!
