Souvenirs: Chopsticks!
I don’t think I learned how to use chopsticks until I was about to fly to China for a work trip. We went to a local restaurant that served authentic Chinese food to get us acclimated to the cuisine and to practice our chopstick skills.
While in China, I bought a set of chopsticks that were white with blue decorations. I believe they are made of porcelain, but I could be wrong. They are in a pretty box, and I had found them at a mall in either Beijing, Ningbo, or Shanghai. I want to say it was Shanghai, but I can’t remember. I still have the chopsticks, and I used them when my husband and I made our own sushi using a sushi making kit we received as a wedding gift!
Ever since going to China, I try to use chopsticks whenever I have the chance. Usually, I have the chance to use them when I eat sushi, which is a Japanese dish and not a Chinese dish. I do love to eat sushi! I prefer the sushi with cooked fish rather than raw fish. My husband and I used to go to new restaurants every once in awhile to try new sushi places. We even joined a group that tried sushi at a new sushi place once a month on Saturdays; I found this group by using the Meetup app. This was when we were living in a large city that had plenty of sushi restaurants to try!
