San Francisco — Post #3
On my last day in San Francisco, I started the morning with a tour of Alcatraz! I boarded a ferry which took me to the infamous prison on a small island. I then picked up headphones with an audio tour and walked around the buildings learning facts about the prison, the island, and the prisoners who used to live there. The audio tour was very informative and worth listening to!
When I got back to the mainland, I walked around Pier 39, and I got to see and hear a lot of sea lions! They were just packed near the pier and barking loudly! I then went to Chinatown to the Chinese Fortune Cookie Factory. I had seen this factory on an episode of The Amazing Race, one of my all-time favorite shows. The Amazing Race has people in pairs race around the world doing amazing physical and mental feats in order to see the world and win prizes. In one episode, the racers go to this factory and have to make so many perfect fortune cookies before they can move on to the next locale. I went down an alley and found the very small factory and saw individuals making fortune cookies!
Overall, my trip to San Francisco was quite fun, and I am so glad I was able to visit the city! I flew in on a Sunday, toured the city and surrounding area for 3 full days, and flew out on a Thursday. I feel like I had plenty of time to tour the city, and I highly recommend it to everyone else!
