Remembering and Writing about my Travels
I want to get into a better habit of writing about my travels closer to when I have taken them. Sometimes, it takes a few months before I actually write about my trips, and by that time, I have forgotten quite a few details. I should not wait until November for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo or Nano for short) or until Camp Nano in April or July. I want to get better at this. For example, it is November 2023, when I am writing this, and I still have not written about our honeymoon trip to Hawaii that we took in November 2022. Why does it take me so long to write about my trips?
Also, when I am on my trips, I will sometimes think about all of the details and topics that I want to write about, and I think that I will remember these details and that there is no reason to write them down. However, I forget those details and forget about what I wanted to write about. I need to do a better job about writing down my thoughts and feelings throughout my trip. I could just write these in my email app on my phone and then save the draft until I am ready to write about my trip.
I have seen a few travel journals on sale that I have been tempted to purchase, but they seem to just have the same prompts on each page for each trip. I would like to write down some of the same information for each trip like the dates and location, but it would be nice to have a variety of questions asked for each different trip.
I do have a pretty good memory when it comes to looking at my photos and remembering where I took each one. I do feel that sometimes I take too many photos, but it is nice to take a lot and then delete the ones that do not turn out so well. That gives me plenty of options of photos to choose from. I do fear that I have too many photos on my phone, so every once in awhile, I transfer the photos from my phone onto both my computer and onto an external hard drive.
Anyway, I hope to continue the momentum from November’s National Novel Writing Month throughout the year and continue to write about my travels regularly and post them on my blog regularly.
How do you like to remember your travels?
