Mini Road Trip to Indianapolis

At the beginning of November 2023, my friends and I decided to go on a one-day trip to Indianapolis. We piled into my friend’s car and drove south to Indianapolis with our main goal to shop at Loudmouth Books, a bookstore dedicated to selling banned books and books written by diverse authors. It’s a relatively new bookstore, so my friends and I wanted to check it out, support them, and get some new books to read, since we are all avid readers!

First, we stopped at Black Leaf Vegan Café, where I ordered their mac ‘n cheese and sweet potato fries. They were out of sweet potato fries, so I ended up with regular fries; I also got a lemonade. I really liked my meal, but they were a bit slow in getting me my order. However, I liked how I couldn’t tell that it was vegan cheese! My husband ordered an original burger, and I took a bite and loved it! It’s a plant-based burger with teriyaki BBQ sauce. We ate our meal on the grass overlooking the downtown Indianapolis canal walk.

Next, we drove to Loudmouth Books and shopped! It was a small store with only two rooms with merchandise, but it was quite colorful! I bought three books and three stickers. They had a deal on stickers — buy three for $10. My friend bought me a book that she thought I would enjoy; what a sweet gift! Afterwards, we walked for about two miles admiring the houses in downtown Indianapolis. In the middle of our journey, we checked out the Central Library of the Indianapolis public library system. We then drove to Massachusetts Avenue to shop and to pick up snacks. I got a Boston Cream cupcake from The Flying Cupcake and a box of six macarons from the Macaron Bar. We then drove home with a sugar high and plenty of new books to read!
