Filling out Hotel Surveys
I always try to fill out the surveys that hotels send to me after I stay with them. I like to provide feedback whether it is good or bad. Here are some snippets of things I have written in recent surveys or wished I had written had I remembered or had I actually received a survey sent to my email:
- I should not have to walk into the shower, which is a trip hazard, in order to get to a hand towel. The hand towel should be by the sink!
- I should not have to do gymnastics just to reach the toilet paper as I am seated on the toilet! I should explain: Sometimes the toilet paper is hard to reach when I’m seated on the toilet, so I will take the roll off the contraption and put it in a more easily accessible location.
- Some hotels have such small bathroom sinks that it is hard to use to fill up my water bottle. When this occurs, I must use one of the provided cups to fill it up with water and then pour the water into my water bottle. This wastes paper or plastic cups that go into the landfill.
- I do not like it when there is only one nightstand near the bed. There should be a nightstand on either side of the bed.
- I hate when there is no place to charge my phone on the nightstand. When this happens, I have to charge my phone elsewhere, and then when my alarm wakes me in the morning, I have to actually get up out of bed to turn off the alarm, which is quite annoying!
- I do not like it when there are two thermostats in the hotel room, as in one is on a wall and one is on a wall unit. Which one do I use? I have to fiddle with each one to see which one actually works. Usually, I find that the wall unit next to the window doesn’t light up, so then I know to use the one on the wall next to the bathroom. I just don’t like how I have to figure out which one to use.
- No cold water came from the sink. It was only warm or hot.
- It was hard to adjust the temperature of the room. It was just a dial showing red for warm and blue for cold. This was a complaint for a room I stayed in on a cruise ship. I would rather see the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, so I could know how to adjust the dial accordingly.
- There was no Kleenex in our cruise ship’s stateroom. I had to use my own Kleenex that I had packed and brought with me or use toilet paper.
- It so annoying when I have to use a hair dryer on a cruise, because I have to press a button the entire time I want to use it. I know they do that for safety, so no one leaves the dryer on and causes a fire, but it hurts my thumb and my hand, and the dryer isn’t the most powerful dryer, so it takes longer to dry my hair, which makes my hand hurt even more. Why can’t they give me a normal hair dryer and make me sign a waiver saying I will not leave it running when I am not using it?
- Please give me a place to put my purse when I am checking in at the front desk of a hotel! I do not need to see your table tents of flyers and promotions. I am already going to stay there because I already have a reservation. Give me space so I can get my wallet out so I can show you my driver’s license and credit card. I need space!
Yes, I know some of these complaints are silly. I really am not super worked up over these thoughts. Most of these are mild complaints! It’s just fun to compile them together for you to read.
